Introduction

This outfit is situated on Leeds Road, Birstall, West Yorkshire, WF17 0EW, opposite the Coach & Six public house at the crossroads where the A62 and A643 meet. Their phone number is 01924 420790 and the "boss" is CHRISTOPHER CHRISTOFOROU (or it may be his common-law wife, Eileen Hayes!) He employs a "salesman" called Simon.

They sold us a car with three major defects, one of which was potentially lethal. Although covered by their "warranty", they did not repair the faults, although the car was delivered to them on four occasions. Then they told us it was repaired when, in fact, it had not been. When we mentioned the Trading Standards Department we were ordered off the premises.

It cost us almost £300 to have the car made safe. They refused to pay us. A successful action was made against them in the County Court but they ignored the Court Order to pay us. A Warrant of Execution was issued by the Court and the bailiff has seized cars from the forecourt to sell at auction on our behalf, and for another lady who was sold a car in such a dangerous condition it had to be written off. The Trading Standards Service are also investigating and would "welcome any information provided by members of the public."

The sign outside their premises says "EXCEL", their Sales Invoice says "EXCEL" but the receipt for cash says "CLAYTON CAR SALES". Now they claim to be "SCOOTERS GARAGE".
